How FASI scores

Anyone can say “yes, we do that”. FASI gives full credit only when a document backs it up, so your score is honest and something you can stand behind.

Five areas, counted equally

Your business is looked at across five areas: Governance, Environment, Social, Ethics and Strategy. Each area has five questions, and each area counts equally towards a score between 0 and 100.

Your answers

For every question you choose a level from 0 (Not in place) to 4 (Optimised & embedded). The higher the level, the more that question adds. Not every question is worth exactly the same.

Your Starting Line

The Quick Check gives you a Starting Line. It's based on your answers only and isn't yet evidenced, so it can't be shared.

Your FASI Score

Your FASI Score only counts what you can back up with documents. It starts lower than your Starting Line and climbs with every document you add. Once you have a FASI Score, it replaces your Starting Line.

How a document counts

FASI looks at each document you upload. First, is it about the question? Then, does it show:

The more of these it shows, the stronger the evidence, and the higher the level that can count for that question:

Your evidenceThe highest level that counts
No document, or not about the questionLevel 1
A weak document (it shows up to 2 of the 7)Level 2
An adequate document (it shows 3 or 4)Level 3
A robust document (it shows 5, 6 or 7)Level 4

A few questions are about everyday practice rather than a written document. For those, each row allows one level more, up to level 4.

If you've told us level 3 but your evidence only supports level 2, we'll say so kindly and tell you what to add to lift it.

Your priorities

The questions in About your business never change your score. They decide which areas come first in your evidence questions and your action plan.

The six stages

What FASI is not

“Evidence reviewed by FASI on” a date means someone at FASI looked at your documents on that day. It does not mean we have carried out an audit. FASI scores are not an audit, assurance or legal advice.
